What Can I Expect as a New Member?
You are joining with thousands of women throughout the world who cherish our ideals, support our high standards and remain true to the founding values of Delta Zeta.
Many times throughout your pledgeship, you have heard "lifetime commitment" in conjunction with Delta Zeta membership. Why? Simply, Delta Zeta is for a lifetime. You are forever a Delta Zeta. When a woman is initiated into Delta Zeta, she takes an oath of lifetime loyalty and pledges her continued support to and for the Sorority—a "lifetime commitment."
The ties that bind you in Delta Zeta sisterhood do not end when you leave school. As a new member, you are just beginning to experience the bonds of sisterhood, the activities and programs that help you to be the best person that you can be.
As a new member in Delta Zeta, you will be participating in the first stage of chapter programming called Enriching Each Other’s Lives.
The program gives you the foundation for your involvement as a sister in Delta Zeta. You will learn the history of the Sorority and your chapter; you will study Delta Zeta values and principles, and during this time, you will begin to establish bonds of lasting friendship with the entire membership.
The chapter officer in charge of this program is the Vice President of New Member Education. She will be planning and coordinating all of the events, meetings and other activities of your new member experience.
The following program goals reflect the purpose of the Sorority as described in the Constitution and reflect the vision of National Council.
- To educate each new member of the responsibilities of membership and create a respect for the core values and principles of the Sorority.
- To promote a sense of belonging and involvement with the chapter.
- To educate each new member about lifelong commitment to Delta Zeta Sorority.
- To provide educational opportunities for personal growth.
